GnRH – LHRH analogues
Gonadotropin-Releasing Hormone (GnRH) is a hormone that stimulates the secretion of Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH) and Luteinizing Hormone (LH) from the anterior pituitary gland. This peptide-stimulating hormone is produced in some nerve cells of the hypothalamus and belongs to the family of Gonadotropin-Releasing Hormones. The secretion of GnRH is pulsatile, meaning that it increases or decreases throughout the day. In men, the pulse of secretion is relatively constant. In women, the discharge pulse differs depending on the status of the menstrual cycle. For example, hormone impulses releasing gonadotropin are highest just prior to ovulation.
